This is a cozy, window-bright log home plan, designed for construction as a vacation retreat. But there's no reason a single person or small family couldn't live in it year-round, if they desired.
Log exteriors are noted for their ease of maintenance, and equally impressive for their natural insulating qualities. Interior walls can be as rustic or sophisticated as the owners' tastes.
In this plan, the great room and kitchen flow together, creating a large open space, naturally illuminated by the light that washes in through six large windows and two small ones. The high ceiling is vaulted, adding to the sense of spaciousness.
Modern and well equipped, the kitchen is also surprisingly large for a dwelling with only 960 square feet of interior floor space. Oven, microwave and dishwasher are built-ins, and you can quickly turn out piles of hotcakes or burgers using the griddle in the work island's cooktop.
Cabinets below boost storage capacity, and the large island also adds more counter space. A roomy pantry is around the corner, right past the compact washer/dryer combination. Another small storage area nestles into the space by the rear door. Pegs there are ideal for hanging coats, and it has a few shelves above.
A vaulted ceiling adds volume to the bedroom. It has one front-facing window, a closet, and another small storage section with built-in shelves. The study could be used as another bedroom, if desired, but it has no closet. Pull-down stair access to the attic is here.
The bathroom is compact. Even so, it has an oversized shower, and is conveniently located for quick access through the screened porch and rear door.

French doors lead directly into the kitchen/dining room from the front porch.
Adjacent is a generously sized family room.
A second bedroom with its own shower room completes the first floor. Upstairs, the master suite has a walk-in closet and a full bathroom.

An unfinished full basement provides space for storage or expanded family living.

A combination of low maintenance shingle siding with fish scale accents, covered porches and old fashioned widow treatments create a strong appeal this side-entry design. With two floor plan options - one as a one bedroom vacation getaway and another as a garage with bath and upstairs studio - make this an attractive plan.
Ample storage, a large workshop space and a full bathroom for those cleanups occupy the first level.
Through the vaulted foyer you access the second level. A separating glass railing makes this area more visually spacious and inviting. Numerous activities can be accommodated in this multi-purpose space.
Storage and a private viewing balcony complete this unique design.
Note: Please allow two weeks for delivery of great room version.

What's Included in Architectural Design's Plans? The construction blueprints are clear, concise and detailed. All blueprints are designed by professional architects and residential building designers. Each plan is designed to meet nationally recognized building codes. Blueprints will vary depending on the size and complexity of the home and the style of the individual designer. Each set may include the following elements:
1. Exterior Elevations - show the front, rear and sides of the house, including exterior materials, details and measurements.
2. Detailed Floor Plans - show the placement of interior walls and the dimensions for rooms, doors, windows, stairways, etc. of each level of the house.
3. Cross Sections - show details of the house as though it were cut in slices from the roof to the foundation. The cross sections detail the construction of the home, insulation, flooring and roofing.
4. Foundation Plans - include drawings for a full, partial or daylight basement and/or crawlspace.
5. Interior Elevations - show the details of cabinets (kitchen, bathroom and utility room), fireplaces, built-in units and other special interior features.
6. Roof Plans - provide the layout of rafters, dormers, gables and other elements including clerestory windows and skylights.
7. Schematic Electrical Layouts - show the suggested locations for switches, fixtures and outlets (not included in JD plans).
8. General Specifications - provide instructions and information of structural specifications, excavating and grading, masonry and concrete work, carpentry and wood specifications, thermal and moisture protection and specifications about drywall, tile, flooring, glazing, caulking and sealants.
NOTE: Due to regional variations it is impossible to include much detail on heating, plumbing and electrical work. Duct work, venting and other details vary depending on the type of heating, cooling system (forced air, hot water, electric, solar) and the type of energy (gas, oil, electricity, solar) that you use. These details and specifications are easily obtained from your builder, contractor or local suppliers.
IMPORTANT EXTRAS: Sold separately 1. Itemized List of Materials - includes the quantity (but not quality), type and size of materials needed to build your home. This should prove helpful in receiving an accurate construction quote. It is not intended to use for ordering specific materials.
2. Right-Reading Reverse Plans - the most user-friendly option when you want to build your home in the reverse of the way it appears online. The layout is reversed and all the writing is corrected so you can read the writing. With this option, all of your sets will appear the way you want to build the home. This option is available for an additional charge.
3. Mirror Reverse Plans - when a right-reading reverse is not available, this option is the way to go when building in reverse. Note that the lettering and dimensions will read backwards, so you will need to order at least one set non-reversed as a reference copy.
